YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM by Margo Belton

5
Things You Can Do To Boost
Your Immune System Right Now
Ok.
Now that we have your attention it is really easy--these 5 things
1.
Eat Better
2.
Get some sleep
3.
Drink More Water
4.
Wash your Hands
5.
Get your flu shot if you have not done it already
Eat
Better
Flash-frozen
& cryovac-packed at sea Salmon fillets canned Salmon or frozen,
tuna fish or whole tuna
How
about sardines? Change your flavor profile - see the Sicilian Coast of Italy for recipeshttps://www.lacucinaitaliana.com/recipe/pasta/sicilian-pasta-with-sardines
Here
is the deal- canned is available but if you are relying on the
Superstore warehouse – expect it to be out of stock at times. It is
better to get real saltwater fish from the ocean, filleted and ready
to cook. The nutrient value of fresh wild-caught fish, especially
fish that swim in freezing cold water gives you an advantage. There
is no way to eat enough vitamins in the next two weeks. However, if
you eat like an Athlete, organic and wild-caught fish – what is
already in your bloodstream gets boosted in 1- 2 weeks.
You
arrive at the big superstore and all they have left is sardines- Do
Not Fret. These tinier oily fish are what the bigger athletic
cold-water fish feed upon. You will have to adjust to the
Mediterranean flavor of sardines- but they will boost you as if you
were a salmon on the prowl. Try to get them in oil, but packed in
Spicy Mustard or Hot Sauce is still okay. One less ingredient to need
if you decide to be a gourmand and make a dish cooked with sardines
as an accompaniment.https://www.lacucinaitaliana.com/recipe/pasta/sicilian-pasta-with-sardines
Get
some sleep
Take
a nap if you can or go to bed ½ hour earlier- that is better. Do not
feel bad about not falling asleep right away -just resting in bed
will let your immune system reorganize itself.
Drink
More Water
Try
one of those apps that base your intake on your weight and or
activity level. Dry office environments tend to irritate nasal
passages and a better-hydrated office worker has a nasal passage that
is not only less irritated but hydrated. A hydrated body is less
prone to infection. How much water you need in a 24-hour period is
based on approximately 1 ounce per lb. Do not worry you will not
possibly intake 192 ounces in 24 hours even if you drank 8 ounces
every hour- SO listen to your body and do every other hour. 96 ounces
will suffice for most American office workers – you just need the
app to develop a hydration habit.
Wash
your Hands
Singing
Happy Birthday without the how old are you chorus is @15- 16 seconds.
If you do the chorus of How old are you without singing the answer
its 38-39 seconds. The CDC wants 20 seconds. So what to do? I use
soap for the happy birthday part and then use hand sanitizer for 5
seconds singing
And
Many
More
https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/when-how-handwashing.html
What
is the takeaway? You do not have to go through the whole Happy
Birthday Song. Get your 20 seconds with the 1stverse of Happy
Birthday andlet the hand sanitizer dry on your HandsAs you sing And
Many More. Wiping off the sanitizer defeats the purpose."
Get
your Flu shot if you have not done so already
Get
your Flu shot if you have not done so already. The regular flu season
is not over. It takes approximately 2 weeks for the annual flu shot
to immunize. The whole idea is to not have a bad flu episode – the
vaccine tends to mitigate the severity. For those worried about the
effectiveness of this year's flu shot - and wish to get another one
– One per year is enough. Why? See the link here.
https://www.health.com/condition/cold-flu-sinus/should-i-get-a-second-flu-shot
If
we are lucky this whole thing will slow down once summer starts in
June. Just keep up the good work. It could be a COVID and Flu ganging
upon us like tag-team wrestlers by Thanksgiving 2020. You want to
have a really good immune system for that because a specific COVID
-19 vaccine requires work – may be available by Mid 2021.

THYME
ROASTED SHRIMP
By
Seafood 4U Now LLC.
High
heat and herb-infused oil make this simple dish some of the juiciest,
crunchiest shrimp you’ll ever have the pleasure of eating. Serve
the shrimp as an appetizer, or as an entree with a salad and crusty
bread. The shrimp also would be phenomenal over pasta.
INGREDIENTS
1/4
cup olive oil
12
thyme sprigs
2
peeled whole garlic cloves
2
pounds large shrimp (about 18 per pound), peeled and deveined
2
tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1
teaspoon salt
1/2
teaspoon ground black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour
olive oil into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish or similarly sized roasting
pan.
Add
thyme sprigs and garlic to the dish. Set the dish in the oven and
preheat the oven to 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
Lay
shrimp over the thyme and garlic, then roast until pink and firm,
about 8 minutes for medium shrimp (about 30 per pound) or 10 minutes
for large shrimp (about 18 per pound), tossing gently two or three
times.
Remove
baking dish from the oven, and stir in vinegar, salt, and pepper.
Serve.
Variation:
To make Rosemary-Roasted Shrimp, substitute 5 rosemary sprigs for the
thyme, and 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar for the balsamic.
